Wanted: University Teachers and Aspiring Authors
My university in Oaxaca,
Mexico is seeking to expand its fine communication department by hiring two new
instructors for February of 2018. This is one of the most secure and rewarding
teaching opportunities in all Latin America. The main responsiblity is equipping warm, funny, and humble students with English communication skills during
three one-hour classes each weekday. Our instructors are allowed to use the
rest of their workday authoring travel stories and magazine articles. Teachers
are assisted in getting their work published and are provided an office on our lovely campus to inspire their maximum creativity.
The cool benefits include a full-time professor's
salary, full medical coverage, weekends off, five weeks annual vacation, and a paid year of sabbatical every six years to travel, write, or pursue further
degrees. Our campus is a web of stucco edifices and cobblestone walkways in a
manicured tropical garden that is surrounded by rainforest and just ten minutes
outside of the state's second largest city Tuxtepec. This urban hub offers modern supermarkets,
movie theatres, dance clubs and a department store. Only an hour away, the
Sierra Norte climbs from palm trees, iguanas, and hummingbirds to cool cloud
forest then frosty pine forest.
Working here feels almost like permanent
vacation, plus the university cafeteria has great coffee from a local finca. On the weekends, one can visit museums of Olmec stone sculpture, swim under jungle
waterfalls, tour cigar-making companies, or listen to Jarocho music at a
pineapple wine festival. To
apply, send an email to communication department head Lyn Fuchs at lynfuchs@gmail.com. Attach your CV and a scan of the info page of your passport from an
English-speaking country. I look forward to hearing from you.
