Wanna See An Impressive Woody?

You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger is a film title with double meaning. The fortune teller's phrase offers hope that life will improve but also hints at the much-more-certain destiny which is our meeting with the grim reaper. Woody Allen poses the question of whether it's better to face life with realism or optimism?

The movie begins with Shakespeare's assertion that life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury but signifying nothing. Yet, the opening music is Disney's affirmation that your dreams come true when you wish upon a star. This contrast is brought to life in numerous relationships within a London neighborhood.

A married writer, who window gazes at the girl across the alley, finds the grass is always greener (and the ass is always leaner) on the other side. A lonely woman, who clings to kooky tarot-card prophecies, finds more happiness than people around her manage to achieve playing with a full deck.

Schopenhauer said humanity is doomed to vacillate between anxiety and boredom. Alexander Pope said hope springs eternal in the human breast. How about you? Do you prefer to wake up and smell the coffee or close your eyes and dream sweet dreams? Many Allen films address the existential vacuum people experience. Women are urged to contact me for a recommendation on the Woody most likely to fill your internal void.
