Down Under The Black Water

Nature is as hazardous as it is beautiful. That's the primal truth. Just as there is no sexual climax without a racing heart, the wonder zone cannot be separated from the danger zone. Avoiding all chance of death is avoiding all opportunity for life.

Remember the old quip from Braveheart? "Every man dies, but not every man really lives." Fortunately, none of us were given the option of staying in mom's cozy, protective uterus rather than venturing into this big, scary world.

In the film Black Water, some tourists risk venturing into remote swamps in Northern Australia. Things don't go well. For our fellow humans, I mean. For a crocodile, things go deliciously. In nature, we're all diners and cuisine.

How long can one stay on a tree branch before sticking a toe down into the muddy soup to see if their reptile nemesis has gotten bored yet? In this not-so-serious-but-not-ridiculous thrill movie, you won't wait long to find out.

  1. What a dissapointing review! C'mon Lyn! You missed a great opportunity to say something funny/insulting about Aussies.

  2. What a CROC of sh-! C'mon Anonymous! Did you ever think that might be because the Aussies in this movie are barely-dressed women wrestling around in the mud? What's to insult? I'm filling out an Australian immigration form as we speak.
